Jaime-Gmad

Jaime García Mendoza was born in Panama City, Panama, in 1973. From a very early age, he showed a marked inclination for pencils, paper, film and books, which would become his passions.

In 1988, he took painting classes in a local institute. This early experience lead to studying Fine Arts at the University of Panama, where he graduated with high honors, specializing in Plastic and Visual Arts.

His greatest influences are masters of the stature of Velázquez, Rubens, Goya, and Cezanne, from whom he assimilated“the art of painting paintings,”as well as Michelangelo, DaVinci, Aubrey Beardsley, Rembrandt's engravings, Gustave Klimt, Japanese engravings, and the world of comics and animation, with Katsuhiro Otomo at the helm.

In Panama he worked for advertising companies, and between 1999 and 2000 he held two individual exhibitions consecutively, managing to attract the attention of the public and the national media (Hagio-Grafía and Hyper Links).

In 1999 he placed second in the National Painting Contest sponsored by the National Institute of Culture (INAC) of the Republic of Panama.

In 1998, he designed and made a mural painting for the San Miguel Arcángel Hospital in Panama City.

With a scholarship from the University of Panama, he traveled to Madrid, Spain, to study for a Master's degree in Contemporary Art at the University Complutense of Madrid in 2001.

It is also worth noting he has participated in the Werkstattgalerie in Berlin.

In Madrid he worked for cinema as a designer and layout artist, as well as for different European role-playing publishers, for many years, among which Nosolorol Ediciones SL stands out.
